Who Digital Discovery is for

Established Irish SMEs with 10 to 250 staff, in manufacturing, joinery, construction and property, food production and distribution.

Signs your business has outgrown its systems

Growth is outrunning the systems. Finance or ERP software is ageing, timesheets and job cards are on paper, reporting is manual, and critical knowledge sits with a few key people.

What we do in a Digital Discovery

We map your systems and information flows, compare options side by side, and deliver a phased, costed roadmap with grant support matched to each phase.

Results

Digital Discovery case studies: construction, joinery, distribution and food

Benefits are annual estimates agreed with each client: staff time saved at a loaded hourly cost, fewer errors and less rework, and the extra margin or capacity the investment unlocks.

Construction and property, ~12 staff

One backbone for a scattered business

Data was spread across disconnected tools, with paper-based processes and no central view of projects. We recommended Microsoft 365 as the backbone, live reporting and a dedicated property management tool. We then delivered the Microsoft 365 rollout and training.

€375k / yrEstimated benefits for a €48k investment

Joinery manufacturer, ~50 staff

Three-phase roadmap to a joinery ERP

An ageing finance system, paper timesheets, no stock system and an expiring design-automation licence. We set out a three-phase roadmap: new finance tool, time tracking, then a joinery ERP. We followed on with finance tool and time-tracking selection.

€425k / yrEstimated benefits for a €100–125k investment

Joinery manufacturer, ~30 staff

Delivery visibility and drawing automation

Limited visibility of delivery performance and heavy manual drawing work. We recommended on-time-in-full reporting, shop-floor tracking, drawing automation and a joinery ERP.

€300–530k / yrEstimated benefits for a €125–155k investment

Furniture distributor, ~50 staff

Ready to double turnover

A business planning to double turnover on a stretched ERP with bolt-on tools. We recommended stabilising the core system, a structured ERP selection and a senior IT hire supported by Enterprise Ireland.

~€520k / yrEstimated benefits for a €171k investment

Food producer, 240 staff

Eighteen systems, one plan

Eighteen separate systems with heavy manual reporting. We set out a phased plan to connect systems in priority order, then went on to deliver an executive dashboard, sensor reporting and a machine-learning model.

FAQ

Questions about Digital Discovery

What is Enterprise Ireland Digital Discovery?

Digital Discovery is an Enterprise Ireland support in which an approved consultant maps how your business runs and produces a costed, phased digital roadmap. Our Digital Discovery projects take seven days over 4 to 6 weeks, and Enterprise Ireland supports 80% of the cost. Eligibility is set by Enterprise Ireland; talk to us or your Development Adviser.

How much does an ERP cost for a small manufacturer in Ireland?

For an Irish manufacturer or distributor with 30 to 50 staff, a phased programme that includes a new ERP typically costs about €100k to €171k in total, based on our Digital Discovery roadmaps, against estimated annual benefits of €300k to €530k. The ERP itself varies widely: a cloud system you set up yourself can start at around €100 a month, while a full SME implementation with configuration, data migration and training typically starts at around €10,000 and rises with users and modules. Phasing the work and matching each phase to a grant reduces the net cost.

What happens after the roadmap?

We match each phase of the roadmap to the right support, typically Enterprise Ireland Strategic Consultancy and then Digital Process Innovation. Several clients have asked us to continue: we have run finance and time-tracking system selections, delivered a Microsoft 365 rollout, and built an executive dashboard and a machine-learning model.

Who is Digital Discovery for?

Digital Discovery is for established Irish SMEs with 10 to 250 staff, in manufacturing, joinery, construction and property, food production and distribution, whose growth is outrunning their systems.
